Premier League champions Chelsea endured a terrible start to the defence of their title by suffering a 3-2 home defeat by travel sick Burnley on the opening day of the campaign.
Since the defeat against the Clarets, the Blues have recorded four straight competitive victories. Antonio Conte’s side will be confident of adding a fifth win when they welcome London rivals Arsenal to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues head into this clash on the back of a 6-0 thrashing of Azerbaijan team Qarabag in the Champions League on Tuesday night. The win was preceded by a 2-1 win at Leicester in the English top-flight last weekend.
The home side have been prolific in front of goal this season, scoring two or more goals in their last five games in all competitions. While the Blues have suffered consecutive defeats against Arsenal, they have also beaten the Gunners in the last five competitive meetings at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s recent home record in the Premier League is also very strong, as they have won 16 of their last 18 outings at Stamford Bridge in the top-flight. Conte’s side have also been prolific at the Bridge in the league, as they have scored two or more goals in nine of their last ten outings.
Arsenal also head into this game on the back of a European victory, having seen off German side Koln 3-1 in the Europa League on Thursday night. The Gunners also won last weekend, recording a comfortable 3-0 home win against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite those positives, the team from north London have been poor on their travels in the English top-flight of late, winning just three of their last ten games on the road.
